Ay Tanrı (Chinese: 愛登里) is the goddess of moon in Turkic mythology.
She was both feared and loved. She was believed to give magic powers to shamans, thus positively perceived in that way. But in general Ay Tanrı was related to negative issues such as malicious spirits, illness, and death. Turkish people always perceived women as beings who have secret supernatural powers related to the moon. The menstrual periods of woman and phases of the moon were imagined to have relation in between.
